	John Stewart, MD Department Chair Year of appointment: 1984 EM Residency: Palmetto Health Class of 1984 Medical School: Medical College of Georgia, Class of 1981	Dr. Stewart is one of the longest tenured members of the staff at Palmetto Health Richland. He became the emergency department chairman in 1995 and was the hospital chief of staff in 2002-2003. He is member of the board of directors for Carolina Care and the Richland Foundation.
	Bill Gerard, MD Department Chief Year of appointment: 1995 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1993 Medical School: Medical College of Ohio, Class of 1990	Dr. Gerard is the department chief and medical director. He also is the medical director for Richland County EMS and the LifeNet Air Ambulance system that serves Palmetto Health Richland and the Midlands region of South Carolina.
	Thomas Cook, MD Program Director Year of appointment: 1996 EM Residency: Darnall Army Hospital, Class of 1993 Medical School: University of Virginia, Class of 1990	Dr. Cook came to Palmetto Health after leaving the Army Medical Corp in 1996. He became the Ultrasound Coordinator in 1996 and Assistant Program Director in 1998. In 2001 he filled the program director position. He is the founder and a co-director of the Emergency Ultrasound Course.
	Troy Privette, MD Assistant Program Director Year of appointment:1997 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1997 Medical School: University of South Carolina, Class of 1993	Dr. Privette has been the assistant program director since 2004. He also is the director for the department's Chest Pain Observation Unit and the South Carolina College of Emergency Physician's Oral Board Course.
	Danielle Bernth, MD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 2010 EM Residency: Palmetto Health Class of 2008 Medical School: University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Class of 2005	Dr. Bernth joined the faculty in 2010. She is extensively involved in international medicine and has numerous publications in this area.
	Eric Brown, MD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 2003 EM Residency: Palmetto Health Class of 2003 Medical School:Boston University Class of 2000	Dr. Brown graduated from Palmetto Health in 2003. In 2006, he became the director for Simulation Medicine for the entire Palmetto Health Richland Campus. He is the director of the annual senior resident retreat that takes place in the spring of each year.
	David Ford, MD Year of appointment: 1993 EM Residency: Albany Medical Center, Class of 1993 Medical School: Albany Medical College, Class of 1989	Dr. Ford is a past president of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians and member of the board of directors. He is the director of the Comprehensive Review in Emergency Medicine conducted annually in Charleston, South Carolina. He is the director of quality assurance for the emergency department.
	Ron Fuerst, MD Director, Children’s Emergency Center Year of appointment: 1995 EM Residency: MCP, Class of 1990 Medical School: Tulane University, Class of 1987 Pediatric EM Fellowship: University of Florida, 1991	Dr. Fuerst joined the department after directing pediatric emergency medicine at the University of Florida. He completed a pediatric emergency medicine fellowship at Florida in 1991. In 1999 he founded the very popular Wilderness Medicine Rotation.
	Gary Hals, MD, PhD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 1997 EM Residency: University of Cincinnati, Class of 1997 Medical School: Southwestern Med School, Class of 1993	Dr. Hals joined the faculty in 1997 after completing residency at the University of Cincinnati. He also received a PhD from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He is director of the program's simulation medicine program.
	Allison Harvey, MD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 1998 EM Residency: Palmetto Health, Class of 1998 Medical School: University of Florida, Class of 1995	Dr. Harvey joined the program after training at Palmetto Health Richland. She is the director of the department's Sexual Assault Nurse Examination program (SANE) and a past president of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians. She is the co-director of the Wilderness Medicine Rotation.
	Patrick Hunt, MD, MBA Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 1999 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1999 Medical School: University of North Carolina, Class of 1996	Dr. Hunt is the director of the department's Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship program and is a national lecturer on emergency ultrasound. He is also co-director of the Emergency Ultrasound Course and the director for Information Technology for the department.
	Trip Jennings, MD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 2007 EM Residency: Palmetto Health, Class of 2006 Medical School: University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Class of 2003	Dr. Jennings graduated from Palmetto Health in 2006. He is the director of medical student education and a past president of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians.
	James Lloyd, MD Core Faculty Year of appointment: 1997 EM Residency: Palmetto Health, Class of 1997 Medical School:Medical University of SC, Class of 1991	Dr. Lloyd completed a pediatric residency at Palmetto Health Richland before training in emergency medicine. He is board-certified in emergency medicine, pediatrics, and pediatric emergency medicine.
	Joseph Myslinski, MD Core Faculty Year of appointment: 1991 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1988 Medical School: Baylor School of Medicine, Class of 1985	Dr. Myslinski is a past residency director for the program and was pivotal in the development of the Oral Board Review Course presented by the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians.
	William Richardson, MD Director, Palmetto Poison Control Center Year of appointment: 2004 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 2002 Medical School: Medical University of SC, Class of 1998 Toxicology Fellowship: UCSD 2004	Dr. Richardson completing his toxicology fellowship at the University of California at San Diego. He is the director of the Palmetto Poison Control Center and is very active in research with numerous publications.
	Steve Shelton, MD Core Faculty Year of appointment: 1991 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1994 Medical School:East Carolina University, Class of 1991	Dr. Shelton is the Tactical Medical Officer for the Special Response Team for the Richland County Sheriff's Department and also chairs the Palmetto Health Emergency Preparedness Committee.
	Steve Stanfield, MD Clinical Faculty Year of appointment: 1999 EM Residency:Palmetto Health Class of 1999 Medical School: University of South Carolina, Class of 1999	Dr. Stanfield is a past president of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians. He is co-director for the Wilderness Medicine rotation and is active in the college's Oral Board Course.
	Jay Taylor, MD Core Faculty Year of appointment: 1991 EM Residency:Palmetto Health, Class of 1991 Medical School: East Carolina University, Class of 1987	Dr. Taylor is the director of the ED for Palmetto Health Baptist in downtown Columbia. He also director of the very popular personal finance curriculum for the program.
	Michael Wade, MD Core Faculty Year of appointment: 1991 EM Residency: Palmetto Health. Class of 1991 Medical School: Medical University of SC, Class of 1986	Dr. Wade is the director of the Surgical Procedures Laboratory and a faculty member for the emergency ultrasound fellowship.
