Ultrasound of the Week # 2 Case History

"Incidental thyroid finding..."

A 59 year old Caucasian female from Ohio was involved in a MVC, cleared in pod 5, and sent to the CPU for serial rule out due to post traumatic substernal chest pain.

An ultrasound fellow in the department performed a screening thyroid scan on the patient and located a thyroid nodule with associated color flow. The patient had no goiter, tachycardic or bradycardic symptoms, diarrhea, constipation, cold or heat intolerance. She had suffered no recent weight loss or gain.

Her ultrasound and a synopsis of the workup of thyroid masses is presented below.
